Skyes are enthusiastic barkers and like to chase other little animals. Skyes need to be socialized thoroughly when they are puppies. Skyes do not get along well with other dogs. A Skye Terrier can live in an apartment if it gets enough exercise.

    Skye Terriers are descended from native Terriers on the Isle of Skye in the Scottish Hebrides. According to legend, Skye Terriers were first bred in the seventeenth century from Maltese dogs that survived a shipwreck in the Hebrides and mated with local dogs. This has been disproved. Skye Terriers may be descended from Viking dogs.
